... never to go on that kind of tour, no matter how decrepit we become. We have enough independence in us to resist such a tour. It sounded ghastly. ... in we head over the bridge covered in padlocks to visit the cathedral. It must have been one of the few buildings to remain after Cologne was heavily bombed.

Lovely city..so we hopped on the inevitable tourist bus which zipped us round the sights...

... second small door, it opens immediately and I look out into 500 feet of empty space, Nothing below me at all except the plaza far below. In front of me, only a very narrow, hanging piece of scaffolding between the 2 very tall towers. I gingerly step onto the walkway, not more than 6" wide and, within a step or two am standing, seemingly, in thin air. It's a very long way down! ... and maize. I always like the demonstration sections.

From the gardens we were able to take a cable car over the Rhine back towards our hotel. The view of the city was very nice and people were swimming in the Rhine. The people at the thermal spa were blissfully unaware what an excellent view the cable car passengers were getting!
Tomorrow we are going to stay with our neighbours in Voorschoten, Netherlands and it will be great to see them.
