Ogimachi is a traditional village in the Japanese Alps. There are not many people around, this last week of March in which the snow of the past winter is still visible in the colder corners. The weather up in Takayama is definitively colder than the rest of Honshu. With a high altitude around 1500 metres, there are still snow capped peaks and a chilly breeze in the air. Layers are necessary, it's a shame I don't have many to put on. One lady was spotted walking around town wearing a towel; I meanwhile contemplated using a pair of socks as gloves. I have achieved. Today I managed to pay for a bottle of wine with only coins. Bottle of Chile's finest it was too! After a warm ryokan farewell we visited the fabulous Matsumoto Castle amid glorious cherry blossoms.
