    ... festival. It would be quite a spectacle with these amazing ancient floats that take lots of people to operate. It attracts about 300,000. There was a video about it at the Festival Float display.

    Dinner was HIDA beef Sukiyaki, the full monty including sashimi, beef and vegetables, miso soup, rice, tofu custard, Japanese pickles and some pink worm looking things that were delicious. And a bonus, they gave me a sweet. And as always ...

    Weather showery, cool, and windy early. Maximum 14 degrees expected today. We are heading back to the mountains so it will be cooler.

    Gorgeous little school kids at the station. They were very attracted to the pond of water - typical kids. But very obedient when the teacher told them to move back. Love their little uniforms.

    In the morning we went to the Miyagawa morning market - it was great, yummy fried chicken. Joey bought Sarubobo dolls. Then we walked up to the Hida village, and explored the old houses.
