We walked towards the biggest building near the train station because this one is supposed to be our accomodation for the next 2 nights, the Takayama Ouan Hotel. When we arrived there were already many people checking in, so after waiting a few minutes they gave us the key for our room in the 10th floor.     The 2:30 hrs train ride from Nagoya to Takayama was very scenic. I really got a bit homesick on this train ride. Takayama is a small town close to the Japanes mountains also called Japanese Alps. It's surprising where the gold leaf shows up .. we were given candies with a few embedded flakes, and I even saw ice cream with gold leaf decoration. I wanted to have some, but there wasn't time to find the shop. I believe it's considered to have medicinal qualities when consumed.
