On 9/23 we we planned to hike from Ardez to Scuol but we were soon bogged down on a steep slope consisting of mud, cow pies and sheep & goat droppings; not a pleasant undertaking. When we got past that we were on snow that had fallen yesterday. We used the opportunity to walk through the snow to clean our boots. This worked until we stepped into cow pies hidden by the snow! At the top of the Fernpass there's a tourist rest stop (trap), with a super view, a tat shop, and a restaurant with English-subtitled menus.
