... cars the whole time we were driving until we got back near the city.

The beach towns are totally deserted. All the hotels and cafés are shut up and no-one is around.
There are so many big apartments that have been started and just left unfinished due to the economic crisis. The beaches are lovely, but it wasn't a swimming afternoon. We had a game of Bolle with these completely round balls we found on the beach made out of some natural ...

The scenery is quite spectacular and not how I imagined a Greek Island!

Naxos was a wonderful choice for our first Greek island experience. With accommodations 150m away from the beach and 200m away from the town's main promenade, we were perfectly positioned in Chora. What bliss.

Beyond the town lies greater Naxos: tiny villages ...

... Bobby drove us to his house, which was connected to his "apartments" or rooms rather, that he rented out to tourists. He had 15 rooms he rented out and then his family's house was connected on one side. On our way to his place he told us he visited Florida before, he spoke English very well, he told us about the area and gave us a place to rent a moped, and also recommended a place for dinner. Once again, the word of mouth is powerful! Bobby did not steer ...
