We departed Haro on Tuesday morning taking the scenic back route through the mountains north to San Sebastian.

San Sebastian is beautiful, even despite the very poor weather conditions: grey, wet and cold with a top temperature of 13! The Hotel de Londres, with its timeless elegance, was built in 1902 when San Sebastian was a playground for the rich and famous. The hotel is situated on the promenade and ...

We committed to a big, twelve hour travel day to get to Biarritz in time to kick-off the thirtieth birthday celebrations on the official day, Thursday. The birthday luck was with us, because upon check-in we were given a key card to our private double room, though when we booked online the only availability was for separate male and female dorms. ... claimed a womans' life and blocked off roads to neighbouring towns. So for the most part it is a beautiful town. I walked pretty much all of it. I climbed a mountain and even managed to be completely insulted by one of the locals, due to my insufficient knowledge of the french language. I was happy to get away to the sunny Biarritz. I spent a week there, also celebrating my birthday. The night I arrived was the french national music ...

... The bus was good; the host was friendly and funny, they made regular stops and put on DVDs for us to watch - time flew by. We arrived very early in San Sebastian, we got in at 2pm and weren't supposed to arrive until 5, our driver must've been speeding! There was a very long check in process (you can imagine 100 bus about people all checking in at once!!) but eventually we got to our room. The hostel is in a great location in the city centre and a short stroll to ...
