After the fireworks we walked the quay to see the fair rides and fun that were set up beside the harbour. Little tots dressed warmly in rain suits and onesies spun by on the carousel, eyes bright as they thought they controlled the action from their perches at the wheels of the doubledecker bus and racecar. Carts packed full and strung high with glowing wands, bracelets, swords, pinwheels and whirligigs caught the eye of every child. The scents of fried fish, grilled burgers ...
