      ... the 2 Kms to town. Stunning views from the rocky hillsides to the harbour and fishing boats and stone built whitewashed houses. Apparently Richard Gere and Ali McGraw both have houses here. Interestingly, houses here are passed on from mother to daughter. Bad luck Kimbo! Would have been nice! We just wandered around the streets and lane ways, had a coffee and a bit of wifi-ing and more wandering until we found a little taverna for lunch. ...

      We moored off Patmos in the afternoon of Saturday 29/9. Skies were.....hmmmm.....a little overcast!       For months, whenever we sliced up one of those red baseballs from Loblaws, we've been talking about the great tomatoes we would eat on this trip. At Limniones, on a terrace above the sea, our third Greek salad. The first two were not bad, but this one exceeds expectations. The tomatoes are as crisp and sweet as the apples of childhood.*

      ... surrounds this monastery; we walked through narrow alleyways flanked by more whitewashed houses - but of quite different architecture to those on Santorini. Murray and I opted to walk back down to the village of Skala, the walkway was built from stones - like cobbles but very undulating - we had to watch every step - it was still worth the walk though. Rain set in during the late afternoon, hopefully it will be all over ...
