    ... you are there. The chapel inside and out is a work of art in its own right. As part of your entrance ticket, you can visit the museum. Here there are many artefacts. I find the most interesting being the old old books, hand written with care and details. These long lasting memories from centuries ago is something we won't have in our digital age of emails and electronic things. This is an art form and way to keep history which will sadly be lost forever one ...

    ... John the Evangelist reputedly prayed and wrote the book of Revelations.

    The island's capital, Chora, is a collection of 16-18th century whitewashed houses high up on a hill at the base of the Monastery of St. John. We visit a 91-year old local lady in her house in Chora... she looks more like 71 and is a testament to the virtues of climbing stairs every day. She is the eighth generation to occupy her home which is now filled with precious antiquities.

    ... as Gyros. Similar to a Kebab, but much much nicer, and a heck load cheaper! 2.20 Euro to be exact! Thats one thing that has impressed me about Greece, the price of the food. Its SO cheap!     ... must see. This ancient city was abandoned when the river silt buried it. We spent a good hour and a half looking over this site before once again getting onto a bus.

    Next stop was a carpet making outlet where we were given a demonstration of turkish carpet making,with wine and beer included, by the Australian Manager, Ashley.

    ... surrounds this monastery; we walked through narrow alleyways flanked by more whitewashed houses - but of quite different architecture to those on Santorini. Murray and I opted to walk back down to the village of Skala, the walkway was built from stones - like cobbles but very undulating - we had to watch every step - it was still worth the walk though.
