      From Franz Josef to Christchurch

Travelled by coach (bus) from Franz Josef to Greymouth. Along the way had a couple 'comfort' breaks. One of the stops was a tourist town with several attractions. We paid the entry fee to something called 'The National Kiwi Centre'. For 15 minutes, we watched one kiwi (there were 2 but one was hiding). It didn't warrant being called the 'national …

It's Christmas, yey, sun shining it's very very warm here in Christchurch and Pat has just woken up David (grumpy devil) and Santa's been woohoo. I've got the Sam Smith album, brilliant! And David has stuff to help him learn Spanish, so hopefully next time we go and stay with Glenn and Jay he will be able to have a chatty time. Got ourselves ready …

We were told that there were a couple of really interesting stop offs on our way, so we had a plan to drive leisurely up the coast do the visits and arrive in Christchurch for dinner. The first place to stop was at Koekohe beach To see the famous Moeraki Bolders, wasn't quite sure what …

First I needed to check into the hotel that I would be starting my tour with. The map said it would take 15 mins to walk..............that would have been the case if I had turned the right direction out of the hotel!! 30 mins later with my suitcase and 2 bags and beads of sweat, I reached the other hotel. I was knackered!! Right, then I went off …

This town had devastating earthquake 3 years ago and still has not recovered. They had to redo the foundations, many buildings rebuilt, but the town is tough and continues on its journey. Something about it says Chicago, where there is a will there will be away and that way is forward.
