... hovering in the middle so didn't have to partake! We went for a cycle the next day to a sea lion colony which was cool. We were going to do a tour to see dolphins or whales but we had done so much in New Zealand we decided to give it a rest. We had a nice relaxing time there. Ror went off one day to try out his new disk golf frisbees and first throw it ended up lost - I went back with him and we had a look around but couldn't see it ...
Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand sharor... miles from England yet we still cant shake them off!!! So we checked into our lovely room and then went for some R+R in their 20 seater hot tub!!! Such a hard life this travelling! The idea for Franz was to go on a scenic helicopter flight over the incredible crystal blue glaciers. The Franz Josef Glacier is next to the famous Fox Glacier. We were hoping to see a big pile of mints and a polar bear, but that wasnt going to happen! Nor was the ...
Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand robeckieDay 70

Today I got up early to try and get lots of activities done. I went over to the Canterbury Museum, which was brilliant, there was a vast array of exhibits on display. There was a native NZ birds section, the body in Action section (a really cool interactive exhibit about how the body works e.g. you are able to test your sprint speed, lung capacity and balance). Other interesting exhibits ...
Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand leehorscraft... war (WW2 of course) didn't attack and take the Rock. I had good internet access that night, got Wikipedia running and learnt all about the Vichy French bombing the Brits and the German plan called Operation Felix. That incidentally didn't come off because Franco in Spain wouldn't give the Germans the right to attack Gibraltar through Spain. I haven't checked my bank accounts for 5 weeks. That might just be an issue. I signed off last ...
Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand daviddx... freezing! We had to go shopping for some fleecy winter clothes to keep us warm at night.

Christchurch was a small city, compared to what we’re used to. It was like a mini Melbourne with old trams running through the centre, with a really old Cathedral that was surrounded with modern art and sculptures and was a really nice walking city. After a couple of nights in our little prison camp, we hopped on the bus to Dunedin, further south.
Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand niamh_keith... on repairs. The buses however stuck to a similar generic route, and as we wanted to go to mostly places off that route, there was no choice but to drive. Fran and I would drive, and Becky would get us things when we asked for them, what a set up (Bex was also chief navigator). We would stop in cabins along the way, and all bumps would be covered in our insurance policy, even excess - what could go wrong? The rest of the day we spent exploring the city ...
Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand sabaustralisim... back flipped her out for an extra rush). My turn ... so there I was perched on the edge ... a few awful photos later and me and Laslow were also back flipping into our 45 second freefall ... he flipped us back over and I could see for miles around. I could see Lois and CJ's parachute open below (Lois also looked up and saw me bombing through the sky on my freefall). Laslow released our parachute and as we floated through the sky he pointed out what we could see. CJ ...

Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand russdi... Good thing because my shoulders were screaming from all the extra weight. The street the hostel was on was pretty, with Victorian-era homes and colorful flower gardens in full bloom at many of the house. We admired one very colorful house on the way by and kept walking. When we got to the address, really ready to put down our packs at that point, we realized that we had the number wrong and the hostel was back close to a block. In fact Chester ...
