We are nearing the end of our five week adventure "roughing it" in South East Asia. The last two days have been wonderful... just hanging around our little hostel in downtown Kota Bharu, eating at our newest favourite chicken and rice restaurant and meandering around the streets looking for bargains.

Kota Bahru is the capital of the northernmost East ...

... were lolling around (probably waiting for the tourists to feed them too).

However, other than rat-watching, cat-watching and shopping for headscarves, there's not an awful lot else to do in Kota Bharu other than catch the nightbus on to more exciting destinations. I was happy to see that we stopped outside a filling station that had a Dunkin Donuts in it, so I was able to get a little slice of home while we waited. I had not anticipated that we would be waiting there for an hour and fifteen minutes! The drivers didn’t speak any English so we had no idea why we were stopped, but finally we hit the ...

Lost Souls

We want to keep this entry short. Today we lost our souls on mini buses and in a squat of a guest house.

3 mini buses, 12 hours, Koh Lanta to Sungai Kolok. An easy border crossing, a hair raising taxi journey, a new city, a filthy guest house, KFC, no alcohol and a film before sleep.

Now lets forget it never happened!

57 including 38 mini buses
