So if Jim reads this, count yourself lucky when the bill isn't as big as it could have ...

The statue was originally to be placed way up high on the roofline of the Duomo, then was placed at the entrance to what is now the Uffizi Gallery and finally moved indoors and now stands under a wonderful skylight (Renaissace-like dome) which casts natural light ...

Left Padua and travelled to Florence with a break in Verona. A beautiful city. Whilst Shakespeare never came to Verona and of course Romeo and Juliet are based on mythology, the story is the main tourist hype. A small courtyard has been set aside as Julie's garden with a false balcony but the number of people crushed into the space is ridiculous. The seemingly world wide habit of affixing locks as a symbol of love is also taken to its height. The manufacturers must be ...
