What Happened in Spain Part II

... in our program - the beach. Yep, the beautiful, white sandy beaches of Cadiz, the most ancient city in Spain.
We had a fun train ride there - Amanda, Jen, Claire, Shannon, Alice, Hedi, Emily, Lizzy, Emily P., Joanne, Aaron, Ian, and Reid. I played a card game called Big 2 and got flicked in the forehead by Ian when I lost, no mercy. Apparently luck was not on my side that morning because at the end of that train ride, I still had a red welt ...

Day with the Host Family

... and Cameron Diaz in it. I hope they get a part! Lunch was interesting and kind of like eating in a Chinese restaurant as the plates just kept coming! After lunch we said goodbye to the sons and continued walking and finally ended up back at the ship but not before taking a rest in the Plaza DE Espana across from the ship. When we were there the park cat ladies came by and fed the wild cats who were pretty friendly. Great ending to a very nice day!

Sherry Tasting and the Andalusian Horses

... of the sweetest sherry called "Nectar" for 8 Euro. I really didn’t like their regular sherry though. They were pretty cool though. When celebrities or royalty come visit, they have them sign a barrel of Tio Pepe instead of signing a guestbook! And they have a family of mice that are sherry connoisseurs. One of the distillery ...

... the way we stopped in Olvera so Mike could get his photo of the village and church tower. We arrived to Nerja very late and couldn't plug in the address in our handy-dandy gps - so we had to call the owner in the UK to give us directions. it was kind of late by the time we got to the house (after midnight). ugh! this was a long, long day! But, we're excited to be at the beach for the next 7 days. Shae can't wait to get her feet wet in the mediterranean.

Living on a cliff face was unique!

... br> Next stop was the most southern town on the Iberian peninsula, Terifa. This is the windsurfing capital of Europe that attracts sailboarders from all over the continent in VW vans. The area has miles of beach, strong constant winds, and lots of bars. We stopped for lunch and checked out a Moorish castle ruin right outside the “Closest European Restaurant to Africa”. I guess it was ...

Of ja, beter gezegd: CERVEZA!

I would say that the best part of this whole voyage is knowing that I left the US not knowing anyone. Well that is not entirely true, I knew one person but was not more then an acquaintance at the time, though now they are one of my best friends. Now coming home I can say that I have a ton of new friends not only from all over the United States but ...

According to Tony a typical Spanish daily menu would be toast with olive oil and milky coffee at 7:00am, chocolate and churros at 11:00am, main meal (a typical menu del dia is paella, pork with salad and chips, bread, flan) at 2:00pm, pastry and coffee at 6:00pm, tapas and drink from 9:00pm, salad and fish or steak at 10:00 or 11:00pm - I don't know why they're not all dead!
