Picked up the campervan today!! Had to get a tram, train and taxi to the campervan office, and when we got there they told us we had been upgraded for free! Instead of getting a hi-top van that came with its own kitchen, we were getting a massive van with its own toilet and shower!! We have named it "The Beast" as it's a very large vehicle that is very interesting to drive. It even beeps when you are reversing, that's how long it is!! We drove to the supermarket to get a few supplies then Nei...
Geelong, Victoria, Australia allmansToday was all jumbled and confusing, and a lot of it spent on the phone talking to family back in England once I'd received the news that father had died. The time difference, now eight hours, is a real nuisance (and can only get worse; in Sydney it's 11 hours). I felt very cut off from everyone here on the other side of the world, but Sue has been a great support telling me that today is the one day i can say or do anything irrespective of how appropriate - or even inappropriate - that may b...
Margaret River, Australia hilaryaG'day to all, Finally we are back on the mainland and you could smell it in the air as we drove off the ferry, it is true when they say that Tassie has the cleanest air in Oz. We only spent a few days in Geelong as we wanted to hit the Great Ocean Rd ASAP. So while there we took a drive down to Queenscliff for the best part of the morning. Queenscliff is located on the western side of Port Phillip Bay where you can look across to Point Nepean on the Mornington Peninsula which is approxiately ...

... minimising my teaching background and emphasising my love of good coffee, which I am currently trying to sell to anyone in a coffee shop in the area. I have a feeling they are all looking for trendy young things to match their image, though...!
I am missing having a car. Ron has been great about giving me lifts but obviously that's not always possible and the bus service from the train station to the house is fairly ...
... and when we really look at Jesus, we have to realise He was offensive, totally off the wall, unpredictable and dangerous... which means our God is also offensive, unpredictable and dangerous... which struck me as entirely funny, while sitting in the middle of a quiet, respectful, Traditional church... not the best place to burst out laughing, for sure. But I digress...
After the service, they had morning tea, so I went along, expecting to get a free cup of tea and a biscuit ...

Geelong, Victoria, Australia mental_blank... New Zealand. Loads of people eating dinner out on a Monday nigth even, mighty stuff! We had an interesting tram ride back to our hostel (YHA up the north side) and we met a few drunks on the way home as it was a bank holiday for Australia day. The Australian open tennis tournament was also just finished here yesterday and maybe people we just finishing off the session. That night Orla had an ...
Melbourne, Australia orlao0... spent with wonderful people. In the days after my thirtieth, I moved out to St. Kilda to live with Lily. I'm so grateful to her and her roommate Alex (the man hardly knows me, but he's welcomed me into his home) for taking me in. It's been such a smooth transition; like I've been here all along. We've been making some delicious meals, and just generally been enjoying each other's company. They're raking up serious karma points. I've ...
Melbourne, Australia chattermouth... up on a camp site with a jacuzzi, mint! Melbourne, Australia scrapiron... way round to the promised finale of an all action ocean simulator! This transpires to be operated by a 16 year old gay kid who minces about making sure everyone is securely strapped in with typical innuendo, before unleashing a jostling and jolting machine in front of a video screen (which isn't even of a photographic level). Tres rubbish! We arrive at a pub after a tiresome search to find somewhere to get a cheap steak, and settle in. The pub advise us that they are ...
