... waiting for the next bus and it was mega boring. There wasn't even anything decent to eat. I had a ham and cheese bloody sandwich. My favourite. Aaaarrrgh!!! Also watched some dodgy soaps on telly. In one programme a guy got chained to a bed by a crazy lady then he managed to knock her out. He ended up running about with the head board. Quite entertaining. The Tur bus to Iquique was average. Not as good as the buses in Peru. No food which ...

We arrived in Iquique which was only about 3 hours from Arica. It has a nice beach with huge surf, but it was cloudy and grey. We were booked into the Backpackers Hostel. Our room smelt musty and we were opposite the men's bathroom...so our room smelt of wee! We got a map from reception....don’t go to downtown at night because it’s dangerous and don’t go out of the downtown area at all ...

... only gringos on the bus. We asked for English sub-titles with no luck, we were told to pay for dinner despite being told it was all inclusive when we booked. My anger towards him mounted as he continually laughed at our Spanish efforts and then when it came time to sleep, gave us different blankets to everyone else - the smelliest, itchiest pieces of dog blanket he could find.

... big shopping centre for all your duty free shopping. Well that was a complete waste of time! Shop after Shop selling all the same **** at apparently less than you could buy the same **** for elsewhere in Chile. I can't really confirm this to be true, as I don't tend to check out the prices on **** anyway!So Iquique, we had four fantastic days and four hideous nights. It's a really lovely place, just full of idiots.

... poging doen om wat te surfen als het de moeite was, met als afsluiter een BBQ. Eigenlijk lekker niets dus, en dat mag ook wel eens :)
Deze plek is een reizigersoord waar je ook gemakkelijk contacten legt. Zo leer ik een landgenoot Stefaan, aka The Master of disaster, kennen en Louisa, een Australische die verdacht veel van zeevruchten afweet. Met hen trek ik de volgende 2 weken op.
