... to dry figs on and make perfect kindling, but Seb's boss doesn't like to scratch his (expensive) car when (rarely) visiting the finca, so it was necessary to cut back the verges and my job to lop down these amazing plants. In the last three weeks we've had quite an impact in the finca, the bathrooms are super clean, the kitchen has newly covered shelves, clean cutlery and dishes and is extremely snug. I mopped ...

We've just celebrated Easter, with a fast amount of food! Three things seem important here. Gigantic platters of lamb, thick walled pastries and family. I was lucky enough to be invited to join my friend Seb's family. He's the youngest of seven children most of whom were able to join us yesterday and we all squeezed around a big table for fried offal, mixed with artichokes, broad beans and red pepper. That was washed down with red wine. But brace ...

We had time to drive up to the Finca on Puig de S'Alcadena. Sitting in nearly 200 hectares the beautiful sandy stone building sits romantically above Alaro valley. ... scurried back towards the castle in search of his 'woman' (who may well have made her escape on the bus whilst her crazed husband hunted for yet another sacred cave)! Seba knew the landscape and we first found a vent hole which looked down into the cave and then the entrance. Stooping low and straddling a puddle we emerged in the side of the cave. It's well worn by visitors and floored with thick sheep dung but the view spreading out of the gaping hole in the side ...

... some lovely areas to get different views of the island.

There were beaches to walk on, a lovely rock walkway along one side of the island, caves where you could hear the water crashing and disappearing into, and the water was sooo clear and turquoise!

We had a very restful time in Mallorca. Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season thus far and look for our next post from Rome!
