... was horrific. As I got closer to the hotel, there was a large advertising sign, that said, "Come Visit Dorothy's House..follow the yellow brick road" I got freaked out! There really was a Dorothy and Toto’s house in Kansas..out of all the towns, I was at the right one. I went to the hotel, checked in and went to find the YELLOW BRICK ROAD. I found it and had a great time taking pictures as you can tell. I sent them right away to my co-workers. All I could do was laugh. Well, after my ...
Liberal, Kansas, United States runmel50... beautiful drives in the US.
-Comparing atlases and routing 17 hour driving trips.
-Why the hell doesn't the table have a lip on the edge? Whoever designed these obviously hasn't traveled in one before.
-Always Sunny in Philadelphia is like Seinfeld on crack. Thanks Ryan. "We need to have an intervention for you for your illiteracy"...."Illiteracy? Like, what does that word even mean?"
I love Kansas...but I ain't moving here.
We traveled to Greensburg, Kansas to see Darren's grandma and uncle. This is also the small town that was hit by an F-5 tornado on May 4, 2007 that destroyed about 95% of the town. The town seems to be recovering relatively well despite all the obstacles including a sagging economy.
Greensburg, Kansas, United States gringowithdrawl... it out for yourself at www.prairieflowerquilts.com . Thought I should show you a sunset with 360 degree horizon. Just look at that colour!
here is where we work the longest hrs in the year, the rain usually holds up so we can get it done. and even if it didnt hold up, there is nowhere we could go, Tribune is in the middle of nowhere and it's just a small town, made up of country folk.
... It was apparent that the Obama stimulus plan had not found its way to Dodge as most of the stores in the downtown area were for lease. We finallly landed at Montana Mikes for burgers and lemonade. However just up the street was the teachers hall of fame and gunfighters wax museum, a strange combo if I do say. It turned out to be a $3.00 donation to the local teachers as all the wax figures looked the ...
Dodge City, Kansas, United States bot989... if I'd quick do a claim in Garden City, KS, only 2 hours away. I said yes as they were short, so instead of writing up more claims I went off to Garden City.
Back at the RV I spent the evening writing up claims and hooking up. When I couldn’t get the hitch to work a neighbor came down; not the old idiot who’d been next to me earlier, but someone I’d said hi to before. He helped me get battened down. Thank goodness for nice people.
... smart to leave CA and come to live in "God’s Country" to which I replied that I preferred CA and would be returning there soon.
I went back into the RV and didn’t give it any more thought.
This morning I was working on estimates when I heard the guy tell the campground manager that the pretty woman “in that RV told me I could stay here”. He went on to ...
... guide me around the museum. There is a list of phone numbers on the door of the museum and you call to have it opened unless there is a community event underway and the historical society has decided to participate.
While this museum, like many community museums, houses the treasures of local families this one had something special to see -- the fossilized remains of a woolly mammoth that was retrieved just ...
... The ground here is also covered with 'stickers' - small hard balls with thorns - that must be the seedpod of a crawly cactus-like plant. They adhere to everything and really hurt is stepped on in sock feet. Shoes are checked regularly for adherents and left at the door. I even dug out hard soled 'winter' shoes and stopped wearing my softer soled running shoes for this week!
