Continuing east we travel away from the flat Willamette Valley and climb into the rolling foothills of the Cascade Range. The area is dotted with grass, grain, and hay farms. ... Klinkenberg, a columnist from the Tampa Bay Times who loves "old Florida." Great last full day of play in Florida.

Friday started with breakfast with Joe, good byes and we had time to stop at our favorite park in Tampa, Lettuce Lake Park. It was a WONDERFUL sunny walk through some very rich (birds and reptiles) area. Then onto to Orlando, airports and flights home.

Thanks to all of our family and friends who made our trip special! Home again.

All the people I dealt with on this process were helpful and friendly. They had their rules to follow and necessary treaty obligations, but they were supportive in getting my “expedition of one” approved. Susannah Cooper at State was especially helpful, since she was the contact with her counterparts in Chile’s Foreign Ministry who ultimately signed off on my flight. ... River from near its origin, all the way into town. It starts out so small, just a creek actually, then becomes this large river with whitewater. It’s so beautiful.

In several places along the McKenzie Highway we would hit large congregations of gnats. All of a sudden our face shields turned into something resembling a badly pimple-faced kid.
