At our first night at an airbnb, we were made to feel very welcome by Vicki and Buddy, they showed us to a very lovely large bedroom with an onsuite. Having slept very well the next morning we left early for Gatlinburg, the second attempt! No short cuts, no scenic routes just the Interstate all the way. We had to pass through Pigeon Forge and we were amazed by the buildings ( if you can call them that ). A play ground ...

What a day! This morning we left the motel after three very comfortable nights to set off for Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge Tennessee. We crossed the border into Tennessee from North Carolina after 45 minutes. We found Gatlinburg very busy as they were preparing for a midnight grand 4th July parade. We wanted to go to the Hillbilly Harley store but after getting our bikes out of the lot, driving through main street with all the stops from the traffic lights and pedestrians we arrived there to see they had no parking of their own and we'd have to pay again. We skipped several nice lookouts because we (I) wanted to go to Clingman's Dome which is ...

... were a number of twisty passes and challenging exciting riding to I-81. The pictures tell the story. In Pigeon forge, what once was a cow path is a busy honkytonk of amusement and hotel/motel/restaurants and fun. Dolly World isn't even visible from the main drag. I will have to come back to actually check it out.

As I was riding today, I was hoping that this effort will actually change ...

... 8) and decided it wasn’t quite as costly as I had thought. We walked down the streets of Gatlinburg and eventually ended up at the Sky Lift and decided to go on and take the ride. It was so nice and peaceful, quiet and gently moving up to the top. When we got off we wandered around up top for a bit, took a couple of pictures, just enjoyed the view and then made our way back down. It was so peaceful I think ...
