      Last day on the slopes

... with capacity 200, resident 6. It did have the most grumpy bar staff in the world, and it did take another 10 minutes to actually get served, but operation beer was eventually a success. The lovely lads from the Coronas evidently were likeminded and joined us. Real good craic, pass the parcel with jokes; everyone got a turn, kind of open mic with stories instead of music.

Dinner in the hotel was great. I jumped in the pool. Garry ushered me into the ...

... Using a Rick Steves recommendation, we found a small restaurant on a side street that had Austrian specialities with some Indian thrown in (very weird combo). Since it was so early, it wasn't crowded and we enjoyed weinerschnitzel, goulash and an Indian vegi curry.

After dinner, we headed back to the hotel through the beautifully decorated streets. They all had Christmas lights, decorated trees and ...

... for the first few kilometres, but then we had to start climbing. Today was the day of major hills as we made our way through the Alps. Many times we had to walk because the road was so steep. We worked hard. For me, it was one of the most physically demanding days of my life.

The first part of the day was through farms high up on the slopes of the mountains. Hans explained to me that the fields at or near the tops of the mountains are where the farm animals where taken in ...
