It frreakin' SNOWED today. I was expecting a day of sunshine but I only got a 20 second preview of blue sky this morning outside of town on the way to Salzburg Zoo. Check out the first pic to see what I thought was the unveiling of the mountains I've been longing to see. But instead I got the beauty of snow for a few hours. It was only light, but so happy I got to see it (and it was the first snow of the season).

Side note: the travel guide complemented me in front of everyone for my beautiful ...

Day trip to the Eagle's Nest!

Built in 1938 as a meeting point for diplomats to the Third Reich, it's now an awesome restaurant at 6,000 feet. Amazing views on the ascent were capped off with 360 degree view of the Bavarian Alps, Berchtesgaden, Obersalzburg, and Lake Konigsee, followed by a snow storm and white out in the middle of May…!

Berchtesgaden, Mt Jenner and Schonau

A travel blog entry by chrisdalton on Mar 01, 2014

Walk to Jennersbahn, up the Jenner, Konnigsee for good lunch, supercharged schnapps that was about 60% alcohol, guys racing tug boats, walk to Schonau, beer in great little pub. Then to the halfway house, too many drinks with locals including the couple who thought we were going to stay with them the night and Rolf the publican. Too many pints too many schnapps and 2 horrible Enzian ...
