Swiss Rail Adventure 6-09-14
Today was to be a free and do as you please day on this tour and so I
decided to work out a plan of where to go.
The plan was a long one but would cover a number of areas that were not
included in the main tour plan and so I would get to see even more of this
magnificent scenic area of the Alps.
As we all were issued with rover train tickets it meant just about every
train and cable car in the area was free for us to travel ...

... of the first parts of the site that I found was the Ice Palace, which consists of passageways and small caves carved out of the ice, with a flat ice floor (it wasn’t overly slippery, which surprised me). There were a number of small cubicles with elaborate ice carvings of birds, polar bears, seals and an Igloo. I was hoping to have a picture taken of me in that location, but the place was packed and crowded so I had no chance for that. Fortunately I was able ...

... restaurant, but wasn't open. Being so high up, there were plenty of drop offs and rocky cliffs and on one of the jut-outs of rock stood a proud Swiss flag. If for some reason we had to leave right then and there, I would have been satisfied. After many pictures, we start to walk and I realize there is no one else on this mountain but us. (it was like having a whole blueberry cheesecake to myself :) We start towards the summit, it's not too rocky, pretty even path ...
