... and finally comes to a set of traffic lights at the end of a single bore tunnel.
This tunnel is about 2 miles long and so its quite a wait before the lights change and we get moving.
On exiting the tunnel there is yet another border crossing and by now I cannot work out if I am in Switzerland or Italy, however I carry on towards Stelvio.
The road I am now on I have travelled a few times in the passed and is yet another great motorcycling road ...
... We went to the information center as soon as we reached the town of Zernez. This is where the park begins. We talked about an alpine hike and where we might get a sandwich to take with us. She directed us up the hill so we got a sandwich, chips and a Toblerone candy bar. I've been wanting one ever since we got here and decided by George I was going to enjoy a few bites.

Today we left the buzz of the city and throngs of tourists behind and headed for the hills. Five hours later we settled in a lovely little town high in the alpine with a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and valley below. And yes, the water was ...

Moved on this morning, up the Pitztal valley, just south
of Imst. Went up to the Pitztal glacier, taking the Glacier Express(tunnel
train) followed Tyrol’s highest cable car to the restaurant at 3,440m, near the
top of the Wildspitze (3,774m). Perfect weather for a day in the snow – blue
skies and no wind.
Staying near Jerzens tonight. Had a great evening meal at
the campsite restaurant ...
... moment I had an inkling of what it might be like to work for the Yukon Geological Survey - maybe I missed my true calling in life? Anyway we had a great time, and finished up the day with a great Wienerschnitzel meal at a local restaurant. Tonight we have to pack up for our train trip to Venice tomorrow.
