... It is the home of of Germany's famous (and original) Kathe Wohlfahrt Christmas Store - open 365 days a year and that's where Ros headed while I spent time walking the streets taking photographs. It was snowing and about - 3 degrees.

It was good day out followed by a degustation dinner in the ships exclusive Eriebnis Restuarant that I enjoyed but Ros didn't as much.

... with time for the last Gluhwein before we headed back to the railway station. Steffie came up with the idea of buying some piccolos for the ride home and I bought a few beers like I did in Miltenberg. Well they didn't last long as we had to do something to entertain ourselves! That and running between platforms on a 3 minute transfer to get the adrenaline pumping!

This morning after eating breakfast and packing up we grabbed some tea & croissants from the local bakery and drove to Wurzburg.
We drove around the town then walked through the Christmas markets. It was a nice town. We ate lunch at a cafe and then jumped back in the car to keep discovering the Romantic Road.
The drive through the country side was beautiful and the towns we passed through were all so lovely.

... complete with free corpse-viewings (apparently European churches are all for having the remains of dead saints on display beneath chapel alters) we sought out the medieval tower where the town's torture chamber was. Every medieval town had a torture tower. As macabre as it sounds, we were disappointed to discover we could not access the tower, but that turned out to be fine because we were able to get our educational fill of medieval torture in the next town.
