... and was a total blast! Oh and Blake made a friend along the way...see the pictures.   Staying in Obertraun has a different appeal; more of a community and a little less touristy than Hallstatt. With only a couple of restaurants in town, Blake and I ate dinner all three nights at a family-owned pizzeria/restaurant/bowling alley. The food and drinks were cheap but really delicious - ranging from handmade pizzas to typical Bavarian dishes to local trout. We loved the family vibe and ...

October 6-14, 2015 Romantik Camping, Schwand, Austria

Hallstatt is a UNESCO heritage site ...

Having arrived at lunchtime, we again had the opportunity to grab pole position right on the lakeside - just 20 feet short of getting Wanda's new tyres wet. One hopes the autumn big tides don't apply here ;-) In warm, nay hot, sunshine we did nothing more exciting than tossing some clothes into a washing machine for a couple of hours, pulled out ...

Day 25 - Bruck to St Johann

A travel blog entry by grmps on Oct 01, 2015

... We're up and sorted remarkably early, at 10:30, as most of the chores were done last night. Having been disconnected from the electricity and paid our dues to the little hotel elf (€23 per day) we're free to depart. St Johann is just up, or probably down, the valley so it's a short and easy run. Arriving in the campsite we were "welcomed" by a rather large lady who twice ignored my request ...
