... not often available and a veal schnitzel would cost around €50. Free time in the afternoon. Would have liked to have done the hop on, hop off S of M bus ride or the train up to the castle, or the Mozart Museum, but needed to go back to the Christmas shop we passed in the morning to get a nativity. We made the tram in plenty of time. I was given the task of locking up the bikes while Annette went and chatted up the tram driver before she went over to the hole in the wall to extract some Euro. Good stuff that Euro, but it doesn't last long when in the wallet!

... villages and admired locals going about their simple lives. Schlogen is to the people of Linz what Rotto is to Perth-ites. It is so picturesque.. So green, so tranquil. Our first night in our tent and a thunderstorm finds us :) we weren't sure if our tent was waterproof- thank goodness it is! We camped beside a little lake which sounded like it was home to Austria's entire duck population! Em ...

... inadvertently adjusting the temperature if you backed into the faucet. Hearty breakfast, self-designed filled rolls for the packed lunch, allocation of cycles and we were off!
The electric cycles were wonderfully easy to learn to use - there's a choice of levels of assistance and to initiate battery aid you do have to pedal, but with minimal effort. Mark's battery was half strength and he was given a spare. We were issued with saddle bags ...
