... are allowed up the narrow tower at a time should have told me that it's a small space up top. You pay once you're at the top of the narrow spiral staircase, and then you have to climb a ladder to get outside for the real view. At the top of the ladder you squeeze through a tiny door (it's a little awkward) and then BAM you're outside and way above the main market square! It's, like I said, a very small space where you just walk around the bell at the top and enjoy the views ...

His humor is subtle, perfectly timed and hilarious as he describes the history of the town and the role of the night watchman. We were laughing out loud through the entire experience. We walked around the town and the markets. Ate Bratwurst rolls AGAIN for ...

... caught up on their travel adventures so far. The next day we started with swim in the wonderful pool and then toured Bayreuth and its forest in car and on foot with our local guide ( Volker) taking us to his childhood playground and ski / toboggan slopes and past the old family homes. Dinner at the oldest brewery in the world with ...

... the moonlit sky. Pictures couldn't do it justice, since we didn't bring a tripod on this trip. What a night! We window-shopped our way back down our street--the safest way to shop since the stores are all closed. We had a beer in a little street cafe, and came back to our hotel via the alley: the front door closes at 9 pm, and our key opens the back door to the courtyard. And now it is time for bed! We regret that we only had this one day in Rothenburg. ...
