We have just come back from a lovely trip up to Lake Konigssee, and a boat trip down the lake to St Bartholoma. The lake is nestled between the mountains, and is 602m above sea level with an average depth of 150m. It is the cleanest lake in Germany, with the water being pure enough to be classified ...

... a high tower packed with tourists taking in the impressive view below of the city. Then we walked around the courtyard and found the museum and state rooms. The museum was cool because we could see the area where excavators found the medieval parts of the building with treasures that had been found years before. Upstairs err the opulently decorated state rooms but they weren't as over the top as similar rooms in London and Munich. These in mused more wood, carvings, and stone ...

... This cemetery is the one where the Von Trapp family hid from the Nazis. It’s the most picturesque cemetery I have ever seen, with beautiful flowers planted everywhere and very interesting and diverse headstones and memorials, and also lined with family crypts protected by wrought iron bars. Prominent Salzburg figures are buried there, including Haydn and Mozart’s sister and widow. The graves go back over a thousand years, and behind the cemetery ...
