... Ricken Pass with a wonderful panoramic view of the Alps to reach Toggenburg with it's rolling green landscape. We then travelled on to Vaduz, the capital of the Principality of Liechtenstein and the 3rd smallest principality in all of Europe, smallest being Monaco then San Marino. We had 30 mins here so not much time to see anything really. From afar, we saw the royal families castle high up on the cliffs edge. Onwards, we travelled to Maienfeld through thick alpine ...

... will cost $8, and it's just the house wine, no great shakes. I guess we are lucky we can afford these prices. But it still rubs one the wrong way. For us to have dinner out in Switzerland every night the bill is well over a hundred dollars. OUCH!!!

We walked through the Protestant church this afternoon then went into the Cathedral. It was built in the 14th century. It had fantastic frescos and was very ...

Friday 5 September 2014 After an 11 day break, off for another weekend! Back on the train to Gatwick. Our plane left on time at 6.15pm. Surprised that it takes only just over an hour of air time to Zurich, Switzerland. Although after loosing an hour, we landed at 8.45pm. We ended up being in a satellite terminal, so had to get a little train over to the main terminal. And then a lot of walking before we finally emerged. The whole airport seemed fairly new and was very nice. The ...

A Grumpy Old Man....and some great scenery

... Rather a sleepless night as the fridge refused to fire on
gas (we took a no-electric option, to keep costs down, as the 0.7euros per
KW-hr is iniquitous). We assume that this is either due to a. Altitude (we are
1,822m) or b. outside temperature (we are around 8 Deg C in the evening, falling
to 4 Deg C during the night). Had to shut the fridge down completely and then
ask for a power connection at 8am. Got the fridge to fire on LPG ...

    The Klostertal Valley

... is on the high side (with
    setting at 3 bars).

Stayed locally and explored the Klostertal valley, up to
the Arlberg tunnel. Visited the Sonnenkopf chairlift to review prices but
decided to defer a trip to the top until tomorrow - the weather promises to be
better and we should have a full day to walk at high ...
