... pure shunting through towns, particularly Freiburg where we saw an actual shunt, a woman having driven into the back of a man, and doing her best to blame him. It reminded me, with our limited language skills (though Liza's German isn't bad) how difficult a situation that could prove for us. Sat nav, as ever, got us through it all. Serena, what a girl. Seriously. We would have been mental to attempt this without her. I think this at practically every junction we ...

We've been riding for seven days starting in Zurich, we've ridden through Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein (albeit for about 15 minutes) and now we're in Germany. It's a challenge keeping track of which country you're in for unlike the highways there are no border signs on the bike path! Konstanz (Constance) is a university city (University of Konstanz) of ...

... experience. But here in Europe, you can just walk over a bridge! Or stroll through a forest! Or take a 2 minute ferry! No one even checks your passport! Today we visited something else we missed last time around - Rheinfall! Rheinfall is a 150m wide water fall in the Rhine - our guidebook says it is the largest in Europe by volume. We missed it last time because of the access - you have to buy tickets and go down lots ...
