... one must first ask before ordering. This is an important lesson to learn while traveling in Europe. Another important lesson to learn is that not everyone speaks English, and even if they do, many do not appreciate being spoken to in English without first asking politely if they do indeed know the language. “Kre-DEET-car-ten okay?”, I asked. Even that got a confused look and a visit from the manager. I do know that phrase usually works, by the way. We ...
Worms, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany byron_and_tracyWell...this time honestly I didn´t have time to make travel list or structure my backpack. After finishing my PhD graduation there was time onyl to celebrations and party (since the last months I rarely had much time).

... to me, switching to English when she figured my smile and nodding for what it was, said she'd lived there for 50 years but loved that magical moments like that still came around.
I left the magical moment up top and ventured to a drearier place, the Studeten Karzen. To boil it down, students who acted up were locked away in five upper rooms with no kitchen or running water for a few weeks. Looks as ...
Well we didn't really spend much time in Frankenthal. It was really just a stopover since we arrived a day early for my mum to arrive in Frankfurt.
We got to Frankfurt and found a call shop to help us find a hostel/hotel for a good price. Unfortunately there weren’t any in Frankfurt so we made our way to Frankenthal about 30 minutes outside of Frankfurt. One piece of advice…when parking in paid parking areas make sure you pay! Haha…we ...
... to be for 2 nights. And let me take a moment to say how HAPPY I am that we're only staying 2 nights- our grocery-store-cum-hostel parking lot apparently shares space with a newly opened thumpin' nightclub. Which closes at 7am. So color me a bit tired today. (on the bright side, we apparently found ONE Heidelberg nightspot. Just didn't want it under my bedroom window)

... Heidelberg, presumably because there were no two person rooms available. This may have been one of those times he was explaining something to me and I forgot to listen. (Editors Note: I booked the honeymoon suite because it was like 2E more than the two person room. I definitely told Lindsay this). Anyway, we have a huge room with lots of big windows (perfect for all of the bees and wasps to enter through) that lookout over the town. We ...
Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany lcbeck... Castle at one end. While walking around, we saw bits and pieces of "Americana" including several Subway Restaurants and we even stopped in at a Woolworths and bought some batteries. Did you even know that Woolworth stores were still around? The weather is nice, mid 40sbut with a little breeze so it seems ...
Heidelberg, Germany boulderr2... at the Heidelberg Cultural Brewery for dinner. I had suckling pig with knodel (a giant dumpling) and sauerkraut. after the meal, everyone spent the night on the town. it was the fourth of July, so we celebrated lots. The town itself is quite small. There were only two streets of restaurants and bars. We saw RISE people everywhere we went. We seemed to take over the city. It was really great to meet other students (except the people from Ohio State...i didn't think ...
Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany tsbgoblue... classical concerts performed by the Heidelberg City Orchestra. Fun, fun, fun!!! Alright, I think it's time to eat! McDonald's sounds so good right about now, but why settle for less when you can have all the gourmet food you want for really cheap prices?! Italians may have discovered pizza, but it's clear to me that the Germans perfected it! And they took it to another elegant level, which is really cool! Last Stop Before My Feet Give Up On Me ...
Heidelberg, Germany sabanovic... at night and do the jobs that the men of Köln were suppose to do. But having these gnomes made it so the men never had to work. Until one night when a curious tailor´s wife walked down the steps where the gnomes emerged from and accidentally spilled peas. When the gnomes tried to come out to do their nights work they slipped, fell, and became angry enough to never come back out and do the work again. And from that point on the men of Köln had to do work. I ...
