It is a long walk to the better showers and WC from the tent site at the Riga City camping ground but then it was worth it. I found the Holy Grail of toilets! ... through Meza Parks, which was absolutely packed with babies, skaters and cyclists on this summery day. We ended up in a cute little cafe in Miera Iela, another hip-and-happening neighbourhood that I still need to investigate properly.
To properly round up Kate's visit, we went for a walk in the old town, and enjoyed some kvass and herbal tea in the most touristic area near the Swedish gate, enjoying some traditional kokle music.

The initial problem was that nobody at the hostel had heard of this beach. We asked around to a few locals who also looked perplexed and by the time we finally figured out which train station / platform we had to take, the woman at the desk stared as if we didn't know what we were letting ourselves in for. She was correct, beyond a few grainy google images, we were clueless.
