The initial problem was that nobody at the hostel had heard of this beach. We asked around to a few locals who also looked perplexed and by the time we finally figured out which train station / platform we had to take, the woman at the desk stared as if we didn't know what we were letting ourselves in for. ... exits the cathedral, and the people in costume with their vintage bicycles and baskets full of daisies stroll past the tourist train...its hard to find where Disney ends and Riga begins.

We have been engulfed in mass groups of cruise ship tourists in the old town, and listened to the universal "this way please" of the tour guides, while trying to spot the token Canadians with their geeky flags plastered to their bags, and the couple who thinks it's cute ...

At about 16:30 I decided to catch the train back to Riga at which time I returned immediately to my hostel to get my gear together in preparation for my flight to Liverpool tomorrow morning. Mish is currently in transit on her way to the UK from Australia and I cannot wait to meet back up with her in Liverpool around midday tomorrow. I had a quiet night in, enjoying a couple of tasty Latvian lagers.
