... br> Made it out of Riga to a town not too far away called Sigulda as the area supposedly has a number of places of interest around it. Found it, a pretty place with a few castles, sculptures and caves etc. So we did our usual wander but not as striking as most other places we had been. Well, I certainly didn't need to - I only took an hour and a half - but I did, cause it started raining. The city is quite ...

If you like to gamble I'll tell you how to win

A travel blog entry by j.mackay on Jul 29, 2011

... alternative, hastily settling for Saulkrasti.

The initial problem was that nobody at the hostel had heard of this beach. We asked around to a few locals who also looked perplexed and by the time we finally figured out which train station / platform we had to take, the woman at the desk stared as if we didn't know what we were letting ourselves in for. She was correct, beyond a few grainy google images, we were clueless.

Our almost ...
