Our next stop was Eger, a lovely little village about 2 hours out of Budapest. We spent the day wandering the beautiful little streets and enjoying the tranquility and small town atmosphere. Eger is loaded with yellow cathedrals and similarly bright houses. There are also several lovely town squares jam-packed with restaurants and boutiques. Many vendors sold mulled wine and hot chocolate from ...

What a neat city! We didn't have a great first impression, since the taxi that took us from the train station to the hostel tried to charge us the equivalent of $120 for a 7 minute cab ride in the Romanian currency (we ended up paying 10 euros which was like 5x too much anyways but better than 100!) Liviu began the tour by giving us a brief history lesson about Romania and explained that ...

... near the University where Ildiko has been studying Hungarian. Got to the museum just in time to see lovely paintings and a film on the putzas. After dropping Ildiko at the station, we found our hotel after several trips around a block and through an archway to a bank!
