Amusing stop over with tongue.

... mind these things can weigh up to 250kilos wet!!

Anyway so nice evening watching the sunset, suddenly realise it's getting dark and there's not a cab in sight. Tuktuk says no way he's going all the way back to town, oh no, maybe in a situation here. However luckily there's this transport in peru called colectivo minibuses. These are essentially a camper minibus which run up and down main routes and cram in as many, and i ...

The border crossing.

... and another one the other side of the bridge welcoming us to Peru. We exit Ecuador with no problems and walk over the bridge. As we are getting our passports stamped for entering Peru the guard asks Al his profession. He says in good Spanish that he is a doctor. The guard the proceeds to fall of his chair laughing.....and then asks Al again what he does for a living. Again Al repeats that he is a doctor and again the guards keels over gripping ...

The Worst Week

... There are some incredible ornate pieces of gold and copper jewellery, shrouds, beaded necklace-type things and weaponry. He was also buried with a guard, some warriors, a few slaves and even a llama for use in the afterlife. All rather good, though photos weren't allowed so if you're interested you'll have to Google it.

Unfortunately there wasn't enough time to go and see any of the other sites I had in mind but we spent the rest of the afternoon and evening in ...

Sandboarding

... us everywhere we went.
After sand boarding we stopped at a ceviche (the best way to prepare fish) restaurant, grabbed our bags, grabbed a bus, and headed on the 4 hour journey to Chiclayo. We found the hostel that we stayed at before, a small place a couple blocks away from the Plaza de Armas. For a double room with a private bathroom and hot water, we paid 35 soles total ($11.60) for the night. The only complaint is that it had a probably poached jaguar hide hanging on the entry wall.

Get in and get out is all i can say.

... could provide you with additional details). The site for the day was the tombs of the Lord of Sipan, and two museums about the site and holding the artifacts found.
The museums were easily better than the tombs themselves, and definitely interesting, but certianly not much of a ´must see´.
Therefore this was tobe a very quick stopover, and man i was a happy camper to be back on the bus to our next destination.

Sipan ruins

... Moche Tours, highly recommended) of a couple museums, including the pyramid shaped Sipan Museum which is modern and high quality, and an excavation site where numerous artifacts were dug up, and workers are presently uncovering a massive pyramid. The guide (Orlando) and other people in the group made it a fun day. We stopped for lunch and I had the local specialty, Pato con Arroz (duck with rice) in the Chiclayo style... very tasty.

Almost back home again...

... French guy named Valentin to Transportes Chiclayo, which would charge me 13 soles (about 4 USD) for the 3 hour bus ride to Chiclayo. Unfortunately.... about literally 20 mins from Chiclayo, we came upon a roadblock on the highway by the farmers who were on strike. *******s. After getting a small combi (minibus) to take us to Chiclayo, but later on finding out that the other alternative road was also ...

So today was my third day surfing, and I kiiinda was able to stand on the board for a half a second or two, haha... lots of fun.. And before that, I went to Huaca Rajada in the morning, in Sipan. It's the on-site museum and digging sites where they found ...

A LITTLE CULTURE

Went on a guided tour and visited "The Lord of Sipan", a Mochican chief in 300 AD. It is a relatively recent archaeological site discovered in the 1980s. Interesting culture that left behind much gold, silver and copper artifacts ...

Peru border and Desert

... at why. There is little if no water, they can´t grow crops, there´s is no vegetation to keep animals and yet, somehow these towns exist. Later there is nothing but desert, huge sand dunes tumbling over each other, river beds completely dried out, sand tornadoes twirling about across the horizon. The road straight for almost 200 kilometers. The wind blowing very strong from ...
