    ... 2 halloween parties with kids. The parties that I went to were really fun, and the main costumes are vampires, witches, ghosts, or a bloody person.

    We were supposed to take the cable cars and cog wheel train to Alpspix and Zugspitz for Adrian's birthday but it snowed overnight and both mountains were covered in cloud. We had to come up with a plan B and found the very pretty town of Mittenwald was close by. The buildings in this part of Bavaria are painted with murals which is quite different to other areas. We spent time wandering the streets and spending some tourist euros. We also found a good bakery/cafe and indulged ...

    ... on site which were fun to sample as we worked our way up the street to. I managed to get into a few outdoor/ski stores and like most Austrian valleys the stores are stuffed with quality gear for summer and winter. And for the geography interested readers the end of the valley holds the only skiable glacier that is open 365 days a year for alpine skiing. The other aspect of this cultural immersion is I have not thought about the Oilers once. That has been healthy for my blood pressure.
