Just when you think it can’t get any better than Germany, over the mountains (and through lots of tunnels) lies the gorgeous valley of Seeboden in Southern Austria. The landscape here reminds me of Switzerland, and our little spot looks out over green meadows, a lake, lush forests and snow topped mountains. Pretty and relaxing, but a bit cold. We stayed here last year, and our sweet landlady was as happy to see us as we were to see her. ...

... at excessive present pile-age). I think dinner was 2 minute noodles - very low key. This was mostly because we didn't realise that all the shops shut at 2pm and don't open again till Boxing Day. Oops. Good thing we have plenty of weetabix as emergency backup!

In the morning the boys were delighted to find that Santa had managed to find them, even in such a remote location... ...

... the calves but speed and long held turny squatts were a whole new world of quad torture.

Trys and I both took videos of each other and watching them back we realised that we do not look anywhere near as cool as we think we do. Trys looks like some kind of crouching duck and I ski like I’m bent over a zimmerframe (bum totally out!). On our final run of the day I managed to achieve even footing ...

Once again we enjoy a bit of 'good trip luck' with our destination of choice. Basically – we booked the next 10 days in a bit of a panic (during that yucky phase of the trip we don’t talk about anymore) and mostly made the selection because it was the only thing available at an acceptable price.
