... legend of the Nibelungs goes back to the 5th century, and was recorded in a famous epic poem in the 12th or 13th century. The word Nibelungen is transferred from a legendary race of Germanic dwarfs and their treasure, to the followers of Siegfried, and finally to the Burgundians which are portrayed in the poem. I believe I might have enjoyed this museum had I been alone, or with other literature nerds like me. But I was with medical doctors who have no background in ...

... all so delicious I had to sample each one twice to finally decide. I could only buy one bottle at $8.50 a piece or I would have bought two or three of them. I decided on jalapeno sauce, which was a 6 out of 10 on the heat meter. The habanero was 10 out of 10 and it was actually pretty hot, but not 10-out-of-10 hot, I'd say. It did burn my tongue, though, and that takes some serious heat to do.
Anyway, on our way back to the car we decided to try the vendors' foods ...
... contributions for royalty. And, one wing is dedicated to an apothecary museum, including several the labs, equipment, shop set-up and all. Plus, it was written in English. I'm learning more German by the day, but I really appreciate the signs in English!
The Hauptstrasse delivered as promised a multitude of shops to peruse, the prerequisite döner/kebap joint, and fantastic people watching. My Aunt Jenny ...
... especially with the litterbox in the bathroom. Anyway, the evening we all went to eat at the Stern Zum hotel. It was good! I had a pumpkin cream soup, which I think was chicken broth based, and a serving of meat-free dumplings with a delicious brown, mushroom sauce. So good. The only downside to the place was that you can smoke indoors, so it was kind of smokey in there. Dogs are allowed in many restaurants in Germany, so we took Dante in with us and she sat patiently ...
Landstuhl and Kusel, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany byron_and_tracy... ourselves a little parking ticket for forgetting to put money in the meter. Luckily we have no idea how to pay it and well we "lost the ticket" so oops!
We got a nice little hotel in Frankenthal which was a little over budget but luckily had a kitchenette in it so it saved us money on food. That night we dined on stir fry and Chris made a great bacon and eggs breakfast in the morning. Worth it!
Then it was off to see my Mum in Mainz! Yay!
... medieval Germany to see castles! umm....change of plans. So after seeing the great cathedral of Speyer this morning (where Martin Luther began his great Protestation), we're heading to Wally World! And we're gonna have so much f**king fun we're going to need f**king surgeons to get the f**king smiles off our faces. (bonus points to whoever knows where that classic quote comes from. Anyway)
cheers all
Neckarsteinach, Germany cdauphin... at in London. Off the side there were little squares with more market stalls. As I walked along, I could see Heidelberg Castle half way up the hill. I came to Kornmarkt and from here I caught a funicular to the castle. From the castle there was a great view of the city and the Nectar River. The castle is partly in ruins. It is a Gothic-Renaissance style fortress and its oldest structures are dated from 1400. A royal Bavarian family lived here for many years. It is ...
Heidelberg, Germany jcastellanWoke up at 11.30 (again could sleep in, because of the late night) and we were meant to go to a big castle (largest in Europe), or France for a day trip. In the end we ran out of time, so I went with Daniel at 2.00, to a handball competition. I rode his bike and he rode his Dad's bike, and he carried his skateboard. It took about 5 minutes to get there. Only young kids ...
