    ... and surrounding parklands are very popular with tourists and hikers. In addition, the lake's position surrounded by sheer rock walls creates an echo known for its clarity.     ... had some desert at cafe Tomaselli. It was our energy boost for the next hike, up the mountain to a lookout point near a monastery. Great views but we went a little too far up the mountain and ended up near some private houses further up the hill.     We rented our car first thing in the morning. Some crazy American lady pushed in front of me to complain about her limousine being to small and not being able to fit all her luggage. They gave her a bigger car probably to get rid of her. I rented a station wagon, Skoda. Brand new. Goes fast on the highway.     ... as it was incredibly steep. But Maddi and I were comfortable...sitting in the shade with our lattes. They finally made it, rested, ate and drank, and we headed down, on a different, not so steep path, which took us an hour downhill, through 'sound of music' country, farms, and lots of cows with their bells tinkling.

    ... Saarlach River was the cable car up to the Predigtstuhl or Preacher's Chair. The Predigtstuhlbahn has the honour of being the world's oldest large-cabin cable car in the world still in operation since 1928. The station looked pretty vintage and it took ages waiting in line to squeeze into the octagonal-shaped cars.
