... we neared an area where the sounds of water increased the further we walked. Suddenly, we came to a place where we were near a tumbling cascade and a lil further on, we crossed a bridge over the fast flowing cascading river with an impressive waterfall above. It was amazingly spectacular watching the aqua blue and crystal clear water tumbling over a drop of maybe 10 metres. This was simply part of the course of the Rio Cinco and one small component of the spectacular falls we ...

... At least there were a few breaks in the clouds beginning to show. We got down to a minor road which we needed to cross to get to a second road which we would be able to follow into town. However, the thing we had been dreading all day finally happened. We came across a seething river that was normally a creek which we were unable to cross. There was nothing to be done but climb back up to the first road and make a detour of approximately 5 km so we could use ...

... out. Starting the descent we overlooked a beautiful scene through gaps that were occasionally appearing in the clouds. There was a series of 4 lakes spread out before us about 350 meters below. Looking extremely tiny in this vastness we spotted the refuge which lifted our spirits. The path downwards was very rocky and, especially in the driving rain, difficult to negotiate. But by taking our time we reached the refuge ...
