A day of cold and hot
... on them. Where I’m standing is right on the top of a very steep cliff edge just looking down on the slopes below. I’m thinking some of these skiers are mad at the speeds and the steep slopes they go down. Well, that was until a chap came right alongside me and stopped. We sadly left the village of Petralia Soprana, leaving behind memories for them as they had left for us. A wonderful and eventful stay and day in the country. No marmite, just rain
Given that the roads around the Northern part of Lake Garda were closed to accommodate the marathon, we didn't find it at all difficult to navigate our way on foot, around to the harbour of Torbole, which is approx 3 km's to the East of Riva del Garda where we were walking yesterday.
The cycle route is clearly marked around round the lake, and can be a little treacherous on blind bends if you choose to head out to the Ponale Hydroelectric power plant which can be found ...
Otzi the Iceman
... The ice has done a good job of preserving items that are more than 5 millenia old. Plenty of research has been done on him - his last meal is known, cause of death is from a heavily bleeding shoulder wound that lead to hypovolaemic shock and he was already plagued with health problems including arthritis and arteriosclerosis. But who attacked him, why, and what was he doing way up in the mountain? Hmmm.
