Saturday 13th June
We drove towards la Pietra di Bismantova past the foundry, Fonderia Capanni that still makes bronze bells and they have a selection of all sizes on display in their yard. At the car park
for la Pietra, it is only a 30 minute walk to the summit so not too strenuous.
John was keen to check out the EE route. (EE means for expert hikers). It was a
via ferrata which uses steel cables to allow non expert climbers ...
... and lots of traffic were totally ignored once I flicked the lever to Manual and used the paddle shifters to encourage to horses to get their act together! The next minutes flew past so damn quickly as I was told to "use the gas" by my guide and gave the beast some stick! For a rev head like me, it was total bliss listening to the screaming V8 and using the instantaneous shifters to up and down the 7 speeds!
All too soon we were back in the parking lot and my dream was ...
... magnificent views of the local Dolomite Mountains and to the snow capped Alps to the North. It was a glorious warm day and we stood for ages taking in the scenery - it is truly a wonderful part of the world!
