The food in Hungary has been pretty good - though 'interesting' might
be a better word. Either way, there is no chance in hell Hungary was
going to play a part in my low cholesterol diet. What I don't
understand though, is how there are so few overweight people here given
the type of food that gets eaten. I only have 2 explanations for that:
One is that people manage to keep trip by smoking - I would hazard a
guess that over 50% of people ...

Senta, Serbia poslovniAfter a nice relaxing day yesterday we are ready to go to places, see things and meet people. My brother, Gyuri decided the best thing to do is to drive a couple hours to see a painting. I don't mind that in a small over populated country there's got to be a "painting" closer. The time spent together will make the trip all better.
We headed to Ópusztaszer, a tiny village that is home to a panoramic painting that ...
Szeged, Hungary r.laaksoThings really shut down in Europe on Sundays and Szeged was no exception. It's particularly bad in smaller towns when you're hungry and everything's closed...we felt like hobos, searching for food, and especially so when we stumbled across a Knorr van offering free soup-in-a-bun samples, and dove in!

Aside from closed shops though, there were certainly more pretty buildings, and even a lovely fountain to see!
Szeged, Hungary fiseb... I learnt some words and how to count until... 3. Well, it's not so easy. I try to read signs but look what signs they have. Look at this city. How can you remember such long and impossible words? My room is really huge. It has a huge double bed and it has a balcony overlooking the yard with vines. The restaurant is really fabulous. It was so tasty.
Szeged, Hungary tierecke... It is the administrative centre of the North Baèka District. The city serves as the cultural and political centre for the Hungarians, Bunjevci, and Croats in Vojvodina. The largest percent of declared Yugoslavs in Vojvodina could be also found in Subotica.
Subotica, Serbia and Montenegro sall... space to let the baby walk around in. The playground equipment in Hungary is designed for fun and not safety, and I nearly broke my leg testing some sort of spinning mechanism out. Anyway, we're here for another day, and then we're going into Romania for a week or so, and then either North or South. If you would like to see most of the pictures, this link should work. I am having trouble understanding Hungarian. http://www.flickr.com/welcome/6090399/4 91658/ Tim
Szeged, Hungary cantelon-polley... influence built in the early 1900's, classic examples of Hungarian art novae apparently. We went out for a couple of drinks and were about to go home when a Serbian pensioners offered to buy the whole bar a round of drinks. Quite a character this guy, his generosity continued as he explained that Tito (Communist Yugoslav leader) was his friend and gave him a good pension which allowed him to come to Subotice to help his 'sexual problems.' We weren't ...
Subotica, Serbia and Montenegro baileyandkerry... and a lot of people still get around on bicycles, just cruising instead of rushing to get where ever it is they are going. But things have changed in the last eight years, since the last time I visited Hungary. The shopping has come a long way with many international labels now available, especially in Szeged which is the bigger city of the two places I have told you about so far. I went to a shopping centre yesterday to get a ...
Hodmezovarsarhely, Hungary vdevaiI can only say that this last week has opened many eyes. My own, others in the group. But I'll only speak of my own. I have been a week training with Min Tanaka, assisted by Shiho Ishihara, and 12 others from all over, but mostly within the immediate environment. The participants were: Petra, Kinga, Visnja, Akos, Andras, Somi, Ezster, Dora, Henni, Denes, Erika, Dalila and me. I fell in love with everyone and the space. The tanya ...
