... were familiar to us: IKEA, Burger King, KFC, ALDI, Toys 'R' Us, McDonalds, and Subway. It definitely makes it feel more at home knowing there are things here that we also have back home in the states. We also went exploring around the Ulmer Munster Plaza, which has little shops, restaurants, cafes, art galleries - you name it! Unfortunately most of it was closed, due to it being a holiday, but I can see us heading back very soon!

Our German Apartment

... pretty comparable to what we have in our apartment back in Charlotte, minus the refrigerator and washing machine. And they're all in German, of course. As I've already talked about our fun lil fridge, the washing machine is quite interesting, too. It is very small and compact in size; you actually have to close the drum on the washing machine yourself. I haven't done a load of laundry yet, but I think I might tackle that today!

I've been thinking of starting a blog to remember our time in Germany, and our travels throughout Europe. My new friend, Kasey, (who is also living in Germany right now), recommended this blogging site which uses a format that makes it very easy to blog about traveling. So here goes nothing...

... l walked around the outside of Abbey however we couldn't get inside as it isn't opened until May. We did see some monks but it would have been better to see the cloisters. The abbey is enormous and it is hard to believe that it has been here so many years ago.

We have been very lucky with the weather so far with cold mornings (about 2) and beautiful sunny blue skies during the day. It actually reached 18 degrees ...
