... which covered the history of Malta, which was great but would have been handy first thing in the morning. Interesting and dramatic history, and so many sights as well. The majority of which I only saw on the highlights reel as we didn't have enough time. Sicily The stretch of water between the mainland and Sicily was guarded by two monsters, Scylla and charibdes. Or something. Anyway, yet another pop ...

... upstairs once we were on the ferry to take photos...ferry takes about 15 minutes to go from the mainland to Sicily. Back down and now we are travelling west out of Messina for Taormina. Onto the freeway and out we go for 45 minutes, off the right ramp and now to find our hotel on a mountain top without an accurate address. Just to say Larry was surprised and pleased he didn't have to bend his mirrors in going down streets which ...

... on this trip. It also boasts views to Mt Etna. My first impression was a little negative, feeling that the surfeit of expensive boutiques and tacky souvenir shops, and the constant procession of tour groups was just tooooo much. But you can't be annoyed for long, as it is truly a beautiful place - the natural setting, with superb views in all directions, and the charm of a wonderfully preserved medieval town have won me over. George and I have enjoyed ...
