This is an assignment that should be fun at the end. Dale and a couple of granddaughters are planning to come just to have some vacation time. Also I’ll be on the east coast for, hopefully,
the changing of the leaves and we have good friends in that area that we get to visit.
So off to a new adventure.
... for us; I hope he's not too mad. Patti said he was very lonely. Spain is now just a memory but one that we will not forget soon.
In retrospect, our Spanish faves are as follows: Cheap, good-tasting wine, Jamon Iberico (uncured Iberian ham), Pintxos (Basque Tapas) which we need these here in Bakersfield, fried Aubergine (eggplant), Cafe con Leche, the Museo del Prado, ...
... Barb and Dennis leave us to continue their trip. We decided to stay another night and drive over to the Sequoia National Park. Made for a long day but so worth it. This is an amazing park. There is no way the pictures capture how large these trees are.
... the eating kind of grape, for they were intermingled with the orange trees and there were no wineries to be seen…at least, not from our vantage point. And, in the fields with the grapes, cohabitating with nature, were oil well pumps, moving up and down, like hammers pounding nails.
And finally we reached our destination. We are now less than 2 hours from Paso Robles…so Rudy, does this mean you lost the pool???
... Mohave Desert and California. When we reach Kingman, Arizona we decide to head due west on Route 66 instead of going south on the I-40 route.
This will prove to be the most fun road of our entire trip! When we turn off onto Route 66 we wonder immediately why in the world would there be a 20mph speed limit for the next 25 ...
