... There were about 10 - 15 people within 3 - 4 miles that I could notice. Observing the serenity of the place, smelling the salty air and hearing the seagulls had a really calming effect. We noticed a school of some very small clear skinned fishes playing around our feet and drawing near the shore by each wave. We came to Camping World to get a repair done on our generator. Usually they are booked up for an eternity, but we camped overnight (free, I might add) at their facility and were second in line in the morning when they opened. Of course, they didn't find anything wrong and it ran for a couple of hours. They did change the oil and filter, which was something that needed to be done anyway. ...

... the little animals. Many of them you can feed for just 2 dollars a feed cup. Most of the animals would walk right up to you and eat our of your hand (no not the carnivores!) The birds, deer, goats, donkey's and those such animals were very friendly. Most of the big cats were hiding from us but the bear and the wolf both made an appearance.

Despite our abysmal trip through Alligator Alley we had a lovely drive as we headed north out of Florida. Once on the gulf coast Lew and I decided to stop at Siesta Key. The key is proudly adorned with signs proclaiming it the #1 Beach in the USA. It was quite beautiful, but none of the beaches were dog friendly. That leaves it's rankings far below the #1 ranking it boasts, but I'll post photos and allow you to decide for yourself.
