Thanks to National day holiday and rearranged schedules I had 6 days in a row off school - bliss! I stayed at home and did a little exploring, but mostly just relaxed, read and watched movies thanks to Netflix.

The unfortunate consequence of all that was that I had to teach on Wed, which would normally be my day off, and was unable to meet Carol & Don for their return stopover.

Spent the morning exploring Yuexiu Park were the locals were exercising, relaxing, play games, singing etc.

I thought I'd go to the airport via subway. It was so easy and cost only a couple of dollars.

When I boarded the plane I again found someone in my seat. The crew member found that we both had a boarding pass for the same seat. After some time, the couple of moved to the seat in front.

I then went walk about. It was fascinating watch people go about their business. I enjoyed the unusual foods on offer along the way.

I went into a restaurant for dinner, the staff were all excited about having a westerner in the restaurant. I was given tea and the cutlery and pressured to order before I could checkout the pictures in the menu. ...

The train was meant to have arrived at Beijing at 8:30 AM but it was more like 11 AM which made Matt anxious as he now only had 75 minutes to catch the subway to Beijing South, pickup his prepaid ticket and catch the bullet train.

The central railway station is the older style sprawling building with lots of people and minimal signage. I knew there was a bus that left from here to the airport, after a few mis-directions I eventually found the bus terminus in a nearby small ...
