We walked by the Rejang river, most of which is very industrial, the main industry is timber, there was a small esplanade where we reached the swan statue. The swan is an ancient Chinese symbol of good fortune and health albeit the statue we saw looked rather tacky!         After breakfast packed up to head off upriver in the longboat. We were joined by boatmen William and juma, Lyn and Muntai. Our first stop in the boat was at Jambu longhouse, we were greeted by the women and children of the village who proceeded to serve us with coffee and fruits and then as time passed out came the tuac and the the whiskey.
