... I admitted to Lizzie I had no idea how far the city was from here, but since we passed 2 pay lots already, I thought it had to be close. When we pulled this tactic in Siena, it resulted in walking directions that took about 45 minutes to get to our destination. I pulled up the map, and it looked like the town center was directly in front of us. Just.. up a really, really high wall.
No problem, we walk around it, and we should be golden!

... decided we would stay in. I am frankly surprised we are not getting gelato, but Doug is generally unpredictable. (quick note from doug -- like a loose cannon! Honestly, the 3 shops we went into had relatively simple flavors, most of which I had already tried. There was one shop where we got Lizzie's crepe that had an interesting ricotta cheese based flavor, but I think they were already closed -- I saw their hours while waiting for them to make the crepe)

Okay, after yesterday's bus strike we are going to try this again. We have just gotten up! This apartment when you close the shutters is very dark and quiet. You don't realize what time it is until you start counting the church bells.......and then it occurs to you that it is allready 9:30 in the morning. Listening to the church bells is a very nice way to wake up in the morning though.
We ate dinner last night late for us...9 ...

Each pair of flag bearers has a fancy flag twirling and throwing bit that they do at each corner and because I had strategically placed myself in the best corner of the piazza, I had a front row seat to all of them. It is a little like figure skating in that the two team members work together to throw the flags around and catch them and then there is the big trick that involves trying to get your flags higher than any ...
... workers want a day off, especially transportation workers, they just go on strike. But they will give you two weeks warning first.
14. They really do eat basically just pasta and pizza.
15. I have seen designer coats on dogs. No joke.
16. They put Sephoras inside the fortress walls.
Well this weekend the agenda is Antique Fair, Open Air
Market and Florence. Next weekend? I am thinking Venice.
