... bumpy and Gary was offered to ride on the elephants head! He did this for quite some time being quite game even down the hill. I did expect him to fall off.

After we returned from the trek it wasn't long before the elephants were bought over to a swimming hole. We all decided to get in and splash the elephant. We used a brush and gave them a scrub. They clearly love this part of the day. Such an experience ...

... groups, each group numbering around 30 children. Those in the first group were either more awake than those who came later or were the brightest bunch as they found it a breeze. After the first class the children had a refreshment break and were given cartons of sugary drinks and individually pre-packed custard sandwiches. ... It was a very one sided contest.

The office was a hive of activity when I got back. Sheila was working on the Facebook page, Sunny was organising English Camps and Sue has, as usual, thrown herself into the task of tidying up all the lesson packs. I made a few preparations for Friday and then headed for the beach. The last few days had been exceptionally hot and it was nice to find a cooling sea breeze blowing on the beach.

... for the umpteenth time today, muttering “Jesus!” through gritted teeth and the pair of us made our escape, Russell to the beach and me to the pool back at Phu Khao Lak.

Just as I was beginning to unwind one of the Phu Khao Lak motorbike and side cars passed ferrying someone to see one of the bungalows. I did a double take. It was Uli. Please, no!

... It was raining but not too heavily and in fact it was quite refreshing. There were other people out walking, some swimming in the sea, some on sun loungers and as I passed Green Beach Cafe which has little shelter I saw people actually sitting at tables in the rain eating meals. At the Centara Hotel the staff were making preparations for a wedding on the beach. That was going to be a rather soggy affair. I walked the entire length of the beach before calling ...
