Garagen-Hotel Munich

... along the riverfront for awhile and saw some more sites. We went out again that night and stopped in at our favorite place (Hofbrauhaus) for one last liter before we left town the next morning. But before we did that we went back to Oktoberfest to walk through it one more time, mainly to see what its like on a Saturday night. We are so glad we went that Thursday and Friday. For one, all the tents were closed and just packed with people. And two, it was ...

... fest and had a beer or two, basically another couple of liters. But then I wanted to walk the city also, So I went on about a 5 hour hike around town just taking pictures, walking down streets that looked cool and stopping for beers, you can walk with beer so that is awesome.

After a long walk I stopped at a local place that Bryan and I ate at the first night and I had more currywurst. It was a meal deal, currywurst, potatoes, a beer, and a ...

... to Austria. We had not really expected too much of Munich and so we were pleasantly suprised with how much we liked the place. There are lots of great things to see and do and we found all the people we dealt wiith really friendly. If northern Germany is as nice as Hiedelburg and Munich we will look forward to visiting later in the summer. For now we had to look forward to a short trip over the border to Salzburg, where the hills were supposedly alive with the sound of music.

... to take home as presents. Made it back to the hostel in the late afternoon, and Mandy, dressed in her lovely new boots, and I went out for a special tea seeing this was her last evening. When we got back to the room she had a go at singing every song she could think of that was associated with the holiday. Turned out that there weren't as many as she thought there would be.

Friday Munich

Did a wandering day around Munich, seeing a number of things we hadn't got to yet ...

... Yes, I know, too much information ... hey ... you are the nuts that are reading this! Anywho ... not much else going on at the moment. I've discovered I love opera and German beer, Czech trains suck, I'm happy to be riding the Deutsche Bahn trains tomorrow to Switzerland whre, on Sunday, I will be taking my first ski lesson! Wish me luck!!! Oh, and I plan on sending some postcards from Switzerland, so if you want one, make sure I have your address! :)

... Munich than the other places. We saw a few churches, the glockenspeil, a beer hall (Hofbrauhaus - the most famous one here), a place where Hitler gave a speech (also Hofbrauhaus) and tried to start a revolution and that's about it that I was expecting. ... the traditional Bavarian clothing, and I was definitely in the minority with jeans and a t-shirt on. We rode the rollercoaster, and continued to check out more tents.
