TravelPod Member ReviewsGrand Soluxe Hotel Lanzhou
They couldn't find out reservation via Agoda, but more than made up for it by placing us in one regular room and one executive room. The executive room is all you could ask for. Great layout, big TV, roomy closet with a safe and everything you could need or want.
The other room, however, was below par. Ignoring the ugly soviet era decor, the bathroom stank of raw sewage. This is not unusual for Lanzhou, since anywhere you go has whiffs of sewage and all public (and almost all private) bathrooms smell the same. But we expected more from a five star hotel. We would have changed rooms but they were full.
Besides that, the beds were very comfortable and the staff were prompt and attentive. We could always speak to someone who spoke english eventually. The breakfast buffet was above average. There is a great gym and pool. You can even get a fruit plate if you don't use the disposable bathroom products, and you can request one of a dozen different pillows so you sleep sweetly.
